Ethos, Pathos, Logos Abstract
Logos, pathos, and ethos are persuasive strategies used in an argument. A good argument should include a combination of all three of these elements. Logos is the appeal to reason. It usually depends on the use of deductive reasoning. You must be able to draw a conclusion on certain situations. You must have evidence and real facts to support your argument. Don’t make assumptions or hasty generalizations. Ethos is ethical appeal. It is based on the credibility of the writer. Use reliable sources in your argument and address the opposition’s position with accuracy, don’t attack their position. Organize your argument in a simple and easy to follow way. Pathos is emotional appeal. Use interviews and stories from real people to create a more real picture of the truth. Tell the story of an individual rather than just list statistics. Don’t use emotion to scare people, use it to appeal and persuade people.
